organisers of the Sziget Festival expect to lose money this year after heavy
rain hit attendance figures, the daily Napi
Gazdaság said on Wednesday.
385,000 people had been expected to visit the festival, which ran for a week
and ended on Tuesday night with a concert by The Killers. However, organiser
Károly Gerendai told the newspaper that preliminary figures showed the festival
had fallen short of this target by around 15,000 because of the bad weather.
Torrential rain and thunderstorms soaked festivalgoers and created mud lakes
over the weekend, although the weather improved for the last few days. This is
also the first year in the festival’s 15-year history that it did not receive

longest-ever concert as bands played live music continuously on one stage for
11,580 minutes – the duration of the whole festival.
