Born in Hungary, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs
Committee and the only Holocaust survivor to serve in the US
Congress died early on Monday, shortly after having been diagnosed
with cancer of the esophagus.
Szili extended the condolence of the Hungarian National
Assembly, which remembered Lantos by rising in a moment of silence
during the plenary session on Monday.
