Vizi said science was the engine of the economy and society in
the 21st century and noted that the EU has asked member states to
spend at least 3 percent of their gross domestic products (GDPs) on
research and development.
Since the 1990s, the Hungarian and Russian Academies of Science
have renewed their co-operation accords every three years.
