The agreement – a prerequisite for Hungary’s exemption from US
visa requirements – was signed by Gyorgy Szilvasy, the minister in
charge of Hungary’s civilian secret services, and US Ambassador to
Hungary April H. Foley in Budapest.
Szilvasy told MTI following the signing ceremony that the
agreement was still to be officially approved by parliament, but all
five political parties were likely to support it.
Foley said her country’s approval for Hungary to participate in
the visa-free programme was expected in October, which means that
Hungarian citizens will no longer be required to hold entry visas
when visiting the US.
