The Corinthia Hotel Budapest provided a sumptuous setting for the fifth annual International Schools’ Poetry Recital Competition, hosted by Britannica International School.

Some 62 students from six international schools, The International School of Budapest, The American International School of Budapest, The International Christian School of Budapest, SEK International School, The British International School and Britannica International School, competed in four categories.
Poems chosen ranged from the wry comedy of Roger McGough to the high romanticism of John Keats. The standard was the highest yet, making judging medal winners a genuine struggle for American poet Andrew Singer, who shared with the audience the reasons for his eventual choices.
The winners’ medals and prizes were presented by Dawn McKen, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy.
