The ladies of the International Women´s Club (IWC) and Norbert Jécsy, CEO of Miele Hungary, handed over almost eight cubic metres of donated clothes and household goods (pictured above) to the Békési Kollégium és Esélyház (Békés student home and house of opportunities) on Thursday. A similar donation had been given to the Hungarian Hospice Foundation the previous week.
The IWC and Miele joined forces to gather donations for the Békési Kollégium és Esélyház on Thursday.
“I would like to emphasise that Jécsy’s personal intervention is above all to thank for these donations,” Ingrid Ortgies, president of IWC Hungary, said. The CEO had learned of the support given by the IWC in Békés and sent out an email to all his colleagues asking them to donate. Several hundred kilos of clothes and other items were collected and given to the student home led by Katalin Muszbéks.
The IWC also offers other support to the home in Békés. “We contribute HUF 200,000 a month (EUR 682) towards food for the children,” Ortgies said. The home takes in children from families whose monthly income is simply insufficient for them to be able to provide even the most vital resources. It also cares for orphans. The women of the IWC will hand over HUF 2.4 million (EUR 8,184) to the home on 3 November.
