Industrial gross output rose 2.1 per cent in December compared to the same month 12 months earlier, with year-on-year comparison for the whole of 2011 showing a 5.4 per cent increase on 2010, the Central Statistical Office announced on Tuesday. The transport industry was the main driver of industrial output but demand for communication equipment and consumer electronics – which play a significant role in the growth of production – has decreased since April.
