The main outdoor pool at the newly renovated Lukács Baths in Buda is pictured above. Lesser known than the stately Széchenyi Baths in City Park, the hitherto shabby but genteel Lukács has long been a favourite of Budapest’s ageing artistic set. Mayor István Tarlós attended an official inauguration of the freshly stuccoed and painted complex last Friday. Besides a cosmetic makeover and improvements to the rooftop sun terrace, the baths are now fully wheelchair-friendly. “Budapest must reclaim its 1930s title as the City of Baths,” Tarlós said.
