Local hound Bottom Shaker My Secret, or as he is known outside the ring, Jimmy, was named best in show out of over 18,000 dogs from 70 countries that took part in the World Dog Show 2013 in Budapest over the weekend.
The six-year-old Old English Sheepdog already had several titles under his belt, including a European Championship from Bucharest in 2012 and an English Champion title – a feat never before achieved by a dog from outside Great Britain. As his owner Zsuzsanna Vörös told The Budapest Times, Jimmy started competing when he was just seven months old, and he showed great potential from the very beginning.
“We started taking him to dog shows when he was very young,” Vörös said. “It is very stressful for the dogs to be in a hall full of other dogs and surrounded by strange noises, but he coped with the situation perfectly. He enjoys these shows tremendously, he even shows off for the audience. If you take a look at the pictures from the weekend, he was constantly posing for the camera.”
Jimmy received his best in show gong from Economy Minister Mihály Varga.
