Hungary’s Competition Office (GVH) has fined Shell Hungary HUF 25 million for misleading consumers. The petrol company promised in advertisements for “Shell FuelSave” petrol and diesel that these would reduce consumption, but this was not the case for most consumers, GVH said. Shell said it was “very disappointed” by the decision and its actions had been in line with the letter of the law. The company said the GVH decision does not reflect the facts or data supplied during the course of the procedure. Shell Hungary is weighing its possibilities with regard to the decision.
