Hungary’s contract with Russia to expand the Paks nuclear plant had not been mentioned in connection with sanctions against Moscow at the EU summit in Brussels, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said this week. Attending the second day of the summit, he said suspending Russia’s contract had not been mentioned and “will not be mentioned”. Hungary had weighed up the consequences of a potential sanction or trade freeze against Russia on its own industries at the outbreak of the crisis in Ukraine, Orbán said. “We have examined everything… We know our own numbers.”
