The Sziget Festival in August has a good chance of halting past years’ decline in attendance and may instead set new highs, the head of the company running the event has told business daily Világgazdaság. Organisers have already sold more weekly passes for this year than during the whole of last year’s festival, Karoly Gerendai said. Business has shot up 100% in Britain, Germany, France and Italy, he said. Hungarian ticket sales were showing signs of a similar surge and the event was likely to break attendance records if day tickets also sold well. Last year Sziget only managed to attract 362,000 visitors, the least in the past decade.
