Budapest Airport hosted a conference of almost 100 cargo industry representatives in Budapest on Monday. The 36 cargo companies at Liszt Ferenc International Airport, which Budapest Airport operates, carry 92,000 tonnes of goods a year. With its developed electronics and pharmaceutical industries, Hungary could become a natural hub for air cargo companies, said Budapest Airport property director Rene Droese. State secretary László Szabó told the conference that the government aims to turn Hungary into the gateway to Europe for Asian goods arriving by rail, water or air.
