West End and Broadway choreographer Anthony Van Laast is a consultant on “The Toymaker”, while Nichola Treherne is part of the choreography team.
Tony Award nominee Van Laast’s prominent stage works include the musicals “Sister Act”, “Mamma Mia!”, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and “Annie Get Your Gun”. Former ballerina Nichola Treherne worked with Van Laast on “Mamma Mia!” and currently there are 32 plays in the world in which she participated.
“The Toymaker” – which will premiere with English subtitles on 27 December in the recently completed Hall of Thorns, on the campus of ELTE University – will feature an all-star cast of Hungarian actors. The play is actually a modern tale, which includes well-known fairy-tale figures put in an unusual surrounding.
Producers are preparing a really interactive show and depending on the ticket they purchased, audiences can also become part of the play. “Magic Ticket” holders will have a one-of-a-kind experience, while those who purchase a “Miracle Ticket” will actually be able to influence how the show plays out.
