Corinthia Hotel Budapest has won the “Hotel of the Year Award”, which was presented for the second time this year and has already become highly prestigious in the hospitality business.
Two other contenders were vying with the Corinthia in the five-star category: the Spirit Hotel Thermal Spa and Andrássy Residence.
The Hungarian Hotel and Restaurant Association is one of the awarding organisations. Its general secretary István Kovács explained the criteria that led to the win: “The Corinthia Hotel Budapest offers outstanding performance in the key performance indicators such as the occupancy of hotel rooms and the average daily room rate.”
In addition to bare figures, however, the Corinthia provides convincing service, according to the organising associations. Along with this comes, for example, a Virtual Planner for conference and congress organisers.
However, crucial in the Corinthia’s success was not only the service offered to guests but also that the hotel offers training possibilities for its employees. And the team of general manager Thomas Fischer does not only think about its guests; its commitment to the charity organisation “Miracle Lamp”, which cares for the wishes of seriously ill children, was seen as another positive factor.
Fischer said the “Hotel of the Year Award” is above all an ‘impulse for the future to serve the guests with even more focus on individual target groups”. Hotel Manager Szabolcs Szabó does not want the Corinthia to rest on its laurels either. He said: ‘‘In 120 years the Corinthia (former Royal) Hotel has won numerous awards and prizes. This award is now another milestone. However, life goes on and we cannot stop here. Just imagine how things have changed in the last ten years. Our aim is to maintain our traditions and history but at the same time keep our eyes open for new challenges and goals.”
