No fewer than 11 new flights will be starting up from Budapest Airport in the coming months, visitors to the airport’s stand at the 2015 Budapest Travel Exhibition learned. Airlines will also be increasing frequency on numerous existing routes.
The 2015 summer schedule will feature direct connections to 90 airports in 35 countries. Those who like the warm Mediterranean climate will have a much greater choice, with new services by Iberia to Madrid, Ryanair to Athens, Vueling to Rome and Barcelona, and Wizz Air to Lisbon and Alghero, on the island of Sardinia.
Those who prefer Northern Europe will also have new options, among others, with services by SAS to Stockholm Arlanda and Wizz Air to Maastricht, while Norwegian will increase the frequency of its Budapest-Copenhagen flight from five to eight a week.
Another plus this summer will be the resumption of direct flights between Hungary and Canada’s Montreal and Toronto, courtesy of Air Transat and SkyGreece, which also had representatives at the exhibition, as did Finnair. Air Berlin and Iberia were represented too, offering bookings on site.
Andrea Trencsén, head of marketing and innovation for Budapest Airport, said: “The travel exhibition is an excellent opportunity to present our comprehensive offer, which should satisfy even the highest expectations, be it in terms of airline or commercial services. We are hopeful that our offers, worked out together with our partners, will arouse the interest of visitors planning their summer holidays, as well as experienced travellers.”
