The average unemployment rate between ages 15 and 74 was 6.8 percent in May-July, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) has said. The jobless rate was down from 8 percent year-on-year and from 6.9 percent in April-June. The number of unemployed averaged 305,800 in May-July and the number of employed averaged 4,223,800. A total of 48.2 percent of the unemployed had been seeking work for one year or more, with the average time 19.3 months. There were 3,009,600 economically inactive Hungarians – those neither employed nor seeking work – in May-July.
