Budapest Airport Chief Executive Officer Jost Lammers has received the “Expat CEO of the Year 2016” award at a gala dinner jointly hosted by Budapest Business Journal (BBJ) and the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) in the Corinthia Hotel. The award acknowledges outstanding business achievements of corporate top managers in the past year.
Lammers (to the right in the picture with CEO of Robert Bosch Javier González Pareja) won on the back of 12.5% traffic growth and 10.3 million passengers in 2015. Under his leadership Liszt Ferenc International Airport has become home to 44 airlines that carry their passengers to 95 airports. HIPA and the American-owned BBJ handed over the award after a professional jury assessed the results of Hungarian companies headed by foreign citizens.
“I feel very proud and touched that I have been selected by the distinguished jury for this outstanding award, which is the acknowledgement not so much of my personal achievements, but rather of all the employees of Budapest Airport Group and of all our airline and non-airline partners, since our performance is the result of a joint effort,” Lammers said.
“I am also very happy that you have noted the tremendous work we have done in the last years to make Ferenc Liszt International Airport the best in its class in Central and Eastern Europe, and we remain committed to continuing our efforts tirelessly along this development path. “
Lammers has been CEO of the airport since November 2007. The company has invested over 360 million euros over nine years to develop aviation industry and airport services in Budapest. The biggest investment was the construction of the new central part of Terminal 2 called SkyCourt connecting Terminals 2A and 2B for EUR 100 million between 2009 and 2011.
Budapest Airport also built an on-airport international postal exchange facility for Magyar Posta in 2011, a centre for DHL Freight and DHL Global Forwarding in 2014 and a service hangar for Wizz Air in 2015, among numerous other projects.
The facility won the “Best Airport in Eastern Europe Award” in 2014 and 2015, and was voted “Airport of the Year 2015” by the CAPA aviation consultancy agency.
