The government does not plan an early general election with a view to securing the two-thirds parliamentary majority necessary to enable the ruling Fidesz party to change the Constitution and thereby pass stringent anti-terrorist laws, state secretary for government communications Bence Tuzson declared on public television channel M1 on Tuesday. Tuzson said that if the proposal to amend the Constitution fails in Parliament, the government would “turn to the people”, although no decision has been made yet on how to do so.
