Sunday shopping ‘big costs ahead’

Retailers will need to make “several thousand” new hires and pay “tens of billions” of forints in overtime because of the lifting of restrictions on Sunday shopping, the head of the National Commerce Association, György Vámos, has told business daily Világgazdaság. Because of a shortage of qualified staff, a number of big retail chains have raised wages by more than 10pc, Vámos said.
