The Janus has been welcoming its guests for 25 years, the last 13 of them as a member of the Best Western chain. However, a hotel that wishes to remain successful after such a long time must renew itself constantly, and now the Janus is branching out on its own again. János Vincze, the hotel’s director, is happy about the new freedom and is working on reconstruction.
He had already begun to explore and replan the unused rooms and surfaces in the hotel this winter, the hotelier reports. A little-used conference room, for example, was transformed into an impressive suite, and the renewal is ongoing.
Guests can choose from three kinds of room at the Janus Hotel. One is the regular room, of which there are 18, all as different as possible. The “Thai”, “India with Buddha” and “Geishas and butterflies” rooms offer Far Eastern elegance and tranquillity, and “Japan” and “Buddha’s Dream” also bring the Orient closer. If you like more grandeur, the right choice is one of the “Venice”, “Baroque” or “King and Queen” rooms.
For a little more space, you are recommended the suites. There used to be two such suites before the reconstruction but now guests can choose from five. The new suites are “Art Deco”, “Blue Angel” and “Mexico”, and they are as different as their names suggest.
The “Art Deco” suite is dominated by black and white and straight lines, which have an air of calmness, while the “Mexico” suite is full of joy for life. Colourful and happy – you can’t help feeling right at home in the newly arranged room.
For something more sophisticated, the “Blue Angel” suite enters the world of the one-and-only Marlene Dietrich.Do not believe that the Janus Hotel is only for new lovers and for couples with a longer history. Families are very welcome and a room category has been created specifically for them. The family suites are really a specialty thanks to the curious style of architect Imre Makovecz, who created the hotel by renewing and extending a former Lutheran chapel and a school, both more than a century old.
Thanks to the built-in attic level these suites offer not only more space but also a small separate room. If you are travelling with children, this is a good option for the whole family to stay. Families often don’t want to be placed in two separate rooms, since either the parents have to be separated or the children have to spend the night on their own. Also these family suites offer quite a big saving in price.
Whichever room guests choose, two things are guaranteed: The absolutely unique experience that is different in each room – which regular stayers appreciate – and the homely atmosphere. With only 30 rooms, you don’t get the feeling of staying at a mass accommodation.
Vincze is proud of this because it is important for him to make his guests feel at home not only in their rooms but in the whole hotel. His team must be succeeding, as testified by the many guests who pick a specific room, because the best recreation always happens at a place where you feel at home.
