A must-see each year is the World Press Photo exhibition in the Museum of Ethnography in Budapest, presenting the best visual and most compelling journalism of the past year, in large high-quality prints.
World Press Photo was founded in 1955 and is run as an independent, non-profit organisation from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Photographers from around the globe are invited to participate in the World Press Photo Contest, the top photojournalism competition worldwide. The aim is said to be to inform and to inspire an understanding of the world. Smartphone owners can apparently hear photographers talk about their work, view the complete picture stories, get technical details of the photos and read captions in nine languages.
The exhibition is running until October 23. Tickets are HUF 2100, or HUF 1000 for students and HUF 4400 for a family (1-2 adults, 1-3 children). The price includes entry to all exhibitions in the museum. An accompanying exhibition is called “Exodus – Witnessing modern migration”.
