The opposition Dialogue party says it will file a complaint over some trees that were cut down on Budapest’s Bocskai utca. Richard Barabas, the party’s local council representative, said he had turned to Mayor of Budapest István Tarlós, asking him why residents had not been notified before trees were cut down in their neighbourhood. Tarlos replied that they had been notified in an announcement on the municipality’s website in July. But Barabas said the announcement listed details of the planned upgrade of the street without mentioning cutting down any trees. So in Dialogue’s opinion the tree felling had been illegal. About 30 trees were cut down near the Ujbuda metro station in September.
