    President signs law on scrapping medical and school fees

    Budapest, March 25 (MTI) – Hungarian President Laszlo Solyom on
    Tuesday signed a law on repealing tuition fees in higher education,
    and co-payments to doctors and hospitals, in line with the outcome
    of the March 9 referendum, the President’s Office told MTI.

    Border town to hold referendum on Austrian waste incinerator

    in Szentgotthard, W Hungary, to gauge public opinion about a waste
    incinerator project to be built in Heiligenkreutz, an Austrian town
    near the Hungarian border, the mayor said on Wednesday.

    said a Wednesday report by a London-based bank.

    Gov’t to compensate a quarter of GPs’ losses on visit fees, says health minister

    Budapest, March 18 (MTI) – The government plans to distribute
    280 million forints or 1.09 million euros a month from a
    compensation fund among GPs to partially offset the loss of revenues
    from scrapped doctor’s fees, Health Minister Agnes Horvath said on
    Tuesday.

    MPs scrap medical co-payments, tuition fees

    Budapest, March 17 (MTI) – Hungary’s Parliament on Monday
    approved the government’s bill on implementing the decisions passed
    by a nationwide referendum on March 9. Accordingly, the fees for doctor’s visits and hospital stays
    will be scrapped on April 1, 2008 and tuition fees for higher
    education will not be introduced at all.

    main point on its agenda will be vote on terminating co-payments for
    doctor visits, per diem hospital fees and college tuition fees, all

    waste transported by a truck with Slovakian plates at Vamosszabadi
    (NW) border crossing on Tuesday, a customs and excise spokesman told
    MTI.
