This year the Robert Burns International Foundation will be working on five major projects, in addition to its on-going work supporting Hungary’s children’s hospitals.
The 15th anniversary Budapest Burns Supper, held at the Corinthia Hotel Budapest on Saturday, raised almost HUF 5 million (EUR 16,960) for children’s hospitals in Hungary, the organisers say.
The ladies of the International Women´s Club (IWC) and Norbert Jécsy, CEO of Miele Hungary, handed over almost eight cubic metres of donated clothes and household goods (pictured above) to the Békési Kollégium és Esélyház (Békés student home and house of opportunities) on Thursday. A similar donation had been given to the Hungarian Hospice Foundation the previous week.
Two months hard work by students who all have English as a second and sometimes third language culminated at the International School of Budapest this week when they staged an end-of-year musical production called Between the Lines. A New Zealand teacher of Grade 1, Gail Mullon, and a Hungarian teacher of Grades 2 and 3, Silvia Coulbourn, combined to produce the hour-long musical play in English.
Members from Austria, Azerbaijan, Egypt, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, India, Japan, Taiwan, Turkey and the United States danced the night away to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the International Women’s Club of Budapest (IWC) at the IWC Ball at the Marriott Hotel last Saturday.
